News & Reviews News Dorsia Travel at the Tusk Gala at Longleat

Every time I visit America, someone asks me about the Royals. I take absolutely zero interest in any of it, and yet find myself hanging around them like some stalker. Dorsia Travel has just sponsored a gala at a stately home, hosted by a Marquess and Marchioness, for a charity whose Royal Patron is Prince William. I probably need to watch Season 2 of The Gentlemen to catch up on all the aristocratic stuff.

On Saturday 12 September, Ceawlin and Emma Thynn, the Marquess and Marchioness of Bath (yeah, no idea what that means either), welcomed 150 guests to Longleat House for a gala evening in aid of Tusk. We were proud to sponsor it alongside some other tiny companies you’ve probably never heard of, like DHL. The night raised more than £100,000 for Tusk’s conservation work across Africa.

Tusk is our chosen charity, as I strongly believe in their mission: protect African wildlife whilst supporting the communities who live alongside it. You’re never going to save the wildlife from humans, without involving the humans.  Longleat has partnered with Tusk for more than 20 years and has raised over £500,000 for its projects in that time. With it being Longleat Safari Park’s 60th birthday, it all seemed to come together for the one thing everyone, on all sides of the aisle, can agree on: a piss-up.

Comedian John Bishop was due to perform but had to pull out after breaking his ankle in a motorbike accident. When someone called Bishop cancels, you start to wonder if even God is against the animals.  Even after all he did for Noah. I think. I haven’t seen that film in a while. The one with Emma Watson. Marriott also came on board as a sponsor very late in the game, just as John Bishop hurt himself. Coincidence? I think not.

So that’s £100,000 for African conservation, and I think that means I’m one step closer to the throne.
