News & Reviews Indian Ocean Seychelles La Réserve Seychelles: Coming Soon

I keep telling you: the Seychelles is on its way to becoming the greatest place on Earth.  I might even be understating it.

Just days after North Island wisely severed ties with Marriott—a decision that absolutely deserves a standing ovation—I can now confirm that La Réserve is making its grand entrance, albeit quietly, with some villas.  They’ve been keeping this under wraps, but I saw them setting up shop during our stay at the excellent La Cigale last year.  Sneaky.

It’s an intriguing pivot for La Réserve, given that all their other properties are in France and Switzerland.  And the quality is all over the place.  Geneva?  A tragedy.  Ramatuelle?  Decent.  Zurich?  Very nice.  Paris?  Absolutely superb.  If their Seychelles venture follows that trajectory (which, yes, I’ve listed out of order just to make this sentence flow, but don’t let facts get in the way), we could be in for something special—or, at the very least, something significantly better than Geneva.

The best part?  This is just the beginning for the Seychelles.  The real blockbuster news—who else is coming—is still under wraps, but let’s just say it’s going to be a whole new level of world-class.  Meanwhile, Cheval Blanc Seychelles just opened, Fregate looks poised to become one of the world’s best resorts based on the renderings, and even the Waldorf ain’t too shabby.  It’s like an alternate reality.

The Seychelles is going to get its day in the erm sun and is beginning to step out of the Maldives’ shadow, which itself keeps getting better.  What a time to be alive.  I think; I’m watching Paradise and can’t decide if that’s more unsettling than the news.

More details as they come.
