Private Island in the Bahamas Now Available by the Villa

Over Yonder Cay is a property I’ve had my eye on for years. The Bahamas is strangely devoid of luxury resorts, except when it comes to private islands. And not “private” as in there’s just one resort and a few other honeymooners lurking around. I mean private-private. As in: one island, one property, and you’re expected to buy the whole thing out for upwards of $50,000 a night.

Well, I guess that price tag put off more than one or two people, because Over Yonder Cay have now started offering single villa stays.

They’ve long required a full buyout and the kind of budget usually reserved for oil barons, Bond villains, and anyone who bought Bitcoin 15 years ago and just remembered. But now, they’re finally loosening the reins. For the first time ever, you can book just one of the island’s villas, starting from $14,000 per night. You can still buy out the entire island, of course, if you’re still disgusted by hanging around people with that pitiful amount of money.

You can choose from three distinct villas. West Sands and East Cove each feature four bedrooms and three bathrooms, with an upper level that includes a master suite with a private jacuzzi bath and a VIP suite with an en-suite bathroom. South Point, slightly smaller, offers three bedrooms and two bathrooms, including a master suite and two guest suites that share a bathroom.  That’ll teach’em for not having done better at school.

Single-villa bookings include everything that made Over Yonder Cay so ridiculously appealing in the first place: a full staff, excellent food and drinks, and access to all the over-the-top amenities—from the deep-water marina and beach club to the par-three golf course and private cinema.  Everything else—the tennis courts, the gym, the watersports, the golf carts and a shooting range to hunt the staff (not documented, just guessing)—is included. It’s the same fully staffed private island experience, just without the requirement to bring 15 friends and selling your last good kidney.
