Off we go to the Seychelles. Again. Some places just keep calling you back. And it’s not always because you’re legally mandated to for community service. No, it’s time to visit Cheval Blanc Seychelles. Yes, that Cheval Blanc—the long-delayed, much-hyped one. The one that used to be a Banyan Tree, so let’s not get too excited.
Years in the making, postponed more times than a prostate exam, and hyped like it’s the Second Coming. Whether it lives up to that hype, we’ll see. But I’ll be there, milkshake in one hand, scepticism in the other, but my heart full of hope, like the great human being I am.
And because I can’t travel for just one property, we’re also returning to North Island—now in the fallen empire phase of its fling with Marriott. A final lap before the Bonvoy lights go out, and perhaps, hopefully, the start of something a little less shite corporate.
Full reviews will be coming, of course. Cheval Blanc’s kid’s club will be thoroughly stress-tested. North Island’s pre-glory charm/decay will be investigated. And I’m looking forward to sharing why the Seychelles is still amazing, and how it’s only getting better, with even more on the horizon next year.
