News & Reviews Africa The Remembering Wildlife Books

If you’ve ever sat down and thought, “I really wish I could have a book that doesn’t have these annoying things known as words”, well, it’s your lucky day, because we all know reading is yuck next and doomscrolling is win. And if you then thought, “But what if that book could have glorious photos from world-class photographers of some of the world’s most beautiful wildlife?”, no need to buy a lottery ticket tonight, sunshine, you’ve already won the jackpot.

Meet the Remembering Wildlife books. Think of them as Instagram, printed, with none of the cunts: just stunning pictures by professionals.  The series began when Margot Raggett, a former London PR (no one’s perfect), saw a poached elephant in 2014 and was moved enough to found the Remembering Wildlife project. She asked other wildlife photographers to contribute to a fundraising book, and Remembering Elephants came out in September 2016 with images donated by some of the world’s top wildlife photographers. Books on rhinos, great apes, lions, cheetahs, African wild dogs, bears, leopards and tigers followed, and more than 280 photographers have now contributed.

I own the African wild dog book, duh, along with 10 Years of Remembering Wildlife, Leopards and Great Apes. They’re simply great books.  Anytime I feel good about a picture I’ve taken, I know I can sit down, cup of hot chocolate in my hand, open one of these books, and weep at how inferior I am by comparison.  It’s very therapeutic.

Every penny of profit goes to projects protecting the featured species. So far that’s more than £1.26 million across 80+ projects in 35 countries.

As always, no affiliate links and no commercial relationship. I just like the books.  Head over to rememberingwildlife.com
