I’m always harping on about hotel openings being delayed, but Amanvari made for a rather special case. It was originally meant to open in 2020. We are now in 2026. I don’t claim to be a mathematician, but by my calculations, that appears to be quite a long delay.
Aman did also spend most of last year confidently putting out press releases saying the resort would open in Spring 2026. Nobody’s perfect. Amanvari is basically the Half-Life 3 of the hospitality industry.
But no more. Now it’s finally official: Amanvari is opening on 1st August 2026, and reservations are live. Which means it’s definitely happening. Probably. Unless they decide to pull a One&Only Kea Island and open slightly too early, realise half the resort ain’t finished, and start compensating guests with free stays. Fun times.
With all that free time, what did they do? Well, build only 18 rooms, apparently. That does feel very Aman in the sense that they’re all fundamentally the same room and the primary differentiator is essentially what angle you stare at the ocean from. There are only one bedroom options, as the residences are yet online.
Pricing appears to have been determined using the standard luxury hotel launch strategy of spinning a bottle, consulting a Ouija board, opening a Monopoly set and then multiplying whatever number comes out by 1,000. Good luck to them, I say. I want to go. Sadly, I’ve already booked pretty much all our trips for this year, so this becomes a 2027 problem.
Still, I never thought I’d see the day where Amanvari launched before Fregate or the Bulgari Maldives. These are strange times. Good times, admittedly, but strange ones.
Hopefully it’s excellent. After a six-year delay, you’d imagine they’ve had enough time to practice screaming Namaste at you on arrival.
